Buckle up, ready the Arby’s, and get ready for awesomeness because the WEC is going out with a bang! Tonight, World Extreme Cagefighting will present its final show before being absorbed by parent-company, the UFC.
WEC’s conclusion will determine the first ever UFC bantamweight champion and will set up a title-unification bout for the 155 strap.
Fighting for the WEC, soon-to-be UFC, bantamweight title is reigning champion, Dominick Cruz and Scotty Jorgensen. Jorgensen is one of the best all-around fighters at 135 and has some murderous ground n’ pound, but does he have what it takes to dethrone the wildly unpredictable champion?
In the guaranteed barn-burner of the night – WEC lightweight champion, Ben Henderson defends his title against the unbelievably entertaining Anthony Pettis. Limbs will be a’ flying. Pettis is taking a huge step-up in competition, will he be ready for it? We’ll be pulling for Henderson solely based on our longing for a Henderson-Edgar title unification bout.
-Elsewhere on Versus, Donald ‘The Cowboy’ Cerrone will battle Chris Horodecki. This one has ‘Upset’ written all over it.
-Kicking off the main card, Bart Palaszewski will need his cup reinforced when he welcomes Kamal Shalorus back into the cage. You may remember Shalorus for his infamous draw with Jamie Varner back in June. Regardless of the controversy in his last bout, Shalorus is very solid and is going to bring the fight to Palaszewski.
So, take you goddamn hat off and pay your respects to the WEC later tonight. It’s your last chance.
