“The California Kid,” and long-time feathweight king, will make his highly ancitcipated bantamweight debut Thursday night as he tangles with Takeya Mizugaki at WEC 52.

It’s been an up-and-down couple of years for Faber. Since being upset by Mike Brown in 2008, Lil’ Fabbie has not been able to get back in the stride that drove him to such prominence prior. This jump down to 135 could be the shot in the arm his career needs and could put him on a path to UFC gold.

His opponent is no slouch, however. Takeya Mizugaki is a former batanmweight title challenger who has repeatedly shown ricockulous toughness and will.

This should be a spectacular fight, but expect Faber’s debut at 135 to be a successful one.

Elsewhere on the card: Chad Mendez will look to keep his undefeated streak alive as he takes on Javier Vazquez, Eric Koch battles Francisco Rivera, Faber-training partner Joesph Benavidez and Wagnney Fabiano are sure to put on a helluva’ fight, and the returning powerhouse Damacio Page will aim for a brutal finish when he and Demetrious Johnson go at it.
