The squad over at MMA Junkie reported today that a Chris Lytle-Carlos Condit scrap is in the works for UFC 127. You may or may not remember this fight was suppose to go down way back at Fight Night 19 in September of ’09, but Lytle was sidelined by injury.
Ever since he dropped a razor-thin, highly debatable, split decision to Matt Serra at the TUF 4 Finale, Chris “Lights Out” Lytle has become an absolute lightning bolt of amazitude siphoned into a good ol’ mid-western firefighter. Dude’s made some serious bank in the process, rackin’ up seven “…Of The Night” awards (four Fight of the Nights, one Knockout of the Nights and two Submission of the Nights). Lytle is riding a four-fight-win-streak and with a win over Condit, Lytle could legit be in the 170 title picture.
Carlos Condit’s UFC stint didn’t start off the way he wanted but after winning his last three fights, including KTFO’n Dan Hardy, “The Natural Born Killer” is right back up at the top of the pack. The former WEC welterweight champion looked scary good in his last performance and would more than likely strive for the impossible (finishing Chris Lytle) in this fight.
Seeing how Chris Lytle has turned into, arguably, the most exciting fighter in the UFC and that Carlos Condit is incapable of have a bad fight; there is no reason not to go bananas for this sure-to-be war!
